Exploring the AI-Empowered BOPPPS Model in a Basic Photography and Videography Course

This paper examines the application and effectiveness of participatory learning in a foundational photography and videography course. In higher education, such courses often encounter challenges, including low student engagement, inconsistent teaching quality, and a lack of transparency in grading. Participatory learning, which emphasizes students' active involvement in the learning process, offers a novel approach to addressing these issues. In this study, we implemented personalized teaching using the BOPPPS model and introduced an artificial intelligence-based grading system in a second-year basic photography and videography course for virtual reality technology majors. The goal was to enhance student engagement, improve teaching quality, and establish a more credible evaluation system. The findings demonstrate that the optimized teaching model effectively increases student satisfaction and participation. However, improvements are needed in the intra-group grading mechanism, as well as in enhancing the intelligence and accuracy of AI grading.
