A Study on the Competency Factors of Open University Teachers in Generative Artificial Intelligence Applications
The use of generative artificial intelligence by open university teachers directly influences the direction, speed, and quality of development in open education in the intelligent era. Identifying and comprehending the important aspects influencing instructors' generative AI application skill is a necessary prerequisite for encouraging the innovative development of open education. In this study, the Delphi method was used to identify the factors influencing open university teachers' generative AI application ability, and the Decision Laboratory Analysis Method (DEMATL) was used to classify the factors in terms of causality and rank their importance, resulting in long-term, short-term, and key practices to improve open university teachers' generative AI application ability by combining the cause factor, result factor, and centrality. The research findings can also serve as a scientific foundation for other universities to encourage the use of generative AI in education.
