Design of Compact Symmetric Circular Antenna for Sub 6GHz Applications
A Compact sub 6 GHz antenna at 6.2 GHz using multiple concentric circular rings shaped patch antenna over an FR-4 substrate is proposed in this article. Multiple symmetric circular metal patches are overlapped on the basic ring structure to achieve the better return loss and gain values. Final proposed antenna of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$(18 \times 15 \times 1.6) \text{mm}^{3}$</tex> is designed and simulated in full wave electromagnetic simulator High Frequency Structural Simulator (HFSS) has <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{- 1 6 d B}$</tex> return loss, gain with respect to frequencies 4.8 dBi, and voltage standing wave ratio of 2 dB. Multiple concentric circles helped to achieve the required performance parameters. Surface current is observed along the ends of the rings and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{E}$</tex>-filed and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{H}$</tex>-filed radiation patterns are represented along with 3D field pattern. The Proposed antenna has potential application for Wi-Fi and sub-6 GHz frequency bands.
