Design and Development of Microwave Absorber Using Biomass Materials for X Band Applications

Traditional microwave absorbers material are expensive and not environmentally friendly. In this work, three different microwave absorbers are fabricated from bio degradable material. These materials are prepared from dried banana leaf powder mixed with gelatin and latex; sawdust mixed with gelatin. To confirm latex and gelatin binding properties along with-it power loss and dielectric constant were measured and compared with previously available materials. The binding material used are gelatin and latex which are pure bio materials. The insertion loss of the material are measured in the frequency range of 6-13 GHz. Among the three, Maximum insertion loss of 27 dB is obtained for the material, which is prepared from banana leaf powder with gelatin at frequency of 6.84 GHz. These materials are found useful for microwave absorber application at X-band.
