Abstract

A co-planar waveguide fed textile (CPWFT) antenna is proposed in this study for wearable applications. The proposed antenna has a volume of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$62 \times 66 \times 1 ~\text{mm}^{3}$</tex>. It is a wearable antenna intended for biomedical applications operates in the frequency of the Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band. The CPWFT antenna band width <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$(2.3 \text{GHz}-2.7 \text{GHz})$</tex> is 400 MHz, return loss is 49.04 dB and the gain of the proposed antenna is 3.7 dB. CPWFT design that equips it to discern anomalies within the thyroid gland based on variations in the dielectric properties of the tissues it encounters, when positioned in close proximity to the thyroid gland. Denim substrate is used with dielectric constant 2.1 with loss tangent 0.001. The resonant frequency of CPWFT is 2.5 GHz and impedance is perfectly matched at 50 ohms. The antenna is simulated with and without cancer tissue with the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$1.32 ~\mathrm{W} / \text{Kg}$</tex>.
