A Flexible Wideband Antenna for Breast Cancer Detection
Here we describe the design and analysis of a flexible wideband antenna for breast cancer detection. Jute has been chosen as the antenna substrate due to its flexibility which makes it ideal for wearable systems. A three-layer breast phantom model, representing skin, fat, and fibro-glandular tissues, has been designed to mimic real-time conditions. Localized tumour properties were introduced to reflect cancerous behaviour accurately. Distinct variations in the frequency response of the proposed antenna when placed on healthy breast and cancerous breast aids in tumour detection. This work integrates an optimized antenna design using flexible substrate with realistic phantom modelling for offering a reliable and non-invasive solution for early-stage tumour detection in human breast. Numerical simulations have been carried out using finite element method.
