Development and Deployment of an IoT-Enabled Water Quality Monitoring System

The environment and human health are seriously threatened by water contamination worldwide. Manual sample collection and laboratory analysis are usually necessary for traditional water quality monitoring techniques, which can be costly, time-consuming, and labor-intensive. These traditional methods are ineffective for continuous or large-scale monitoring because they can be imprecise, require drawn-out processes, and have substantial operating expenses. As a result, a more effective, precise, and real-time water quality monitoring system is desperately needed. This research presents an Internet of Things (IoT)-based water quality monitoring system that offers continuous, real-time evaluation of vital water parameters, such as temperature, turbidity, and pH, in order to address these problems. A microcontroller processes the data that is gathered by the system's sensors. Wireless transmission of this data to a central computer allows for real-time analysis and visualization, allowing anomalies or contamination to be detected right away. IoT technology integration enables proactive intervention and quicker reaction times to guarantee water safety. Even in remote areas where traditional monitoring infrastructure is inadequate, the system's integration of a GPRS module enables dependable data transfer. This creative method improves accuracy and efficiency while lowering the expense and complexity of conventional water testing. The suggested system is a workable option for both urban and rural locations because it is scalable, affordable, and self-sufficient. All things considered, this Internet of Things (IOT)-based water quality monitoring system provides a revolutionary answer to contemporary water management issues, encouraging safer and more sustainable water practices in a variety of settings.
