Open Ended Slot Loaded Compact Dual Band-Stop Frequency Selective Surface Designed for WiFi/WiMAX/WLAN Applications
In this work, open ended slot loaded dual band-stop performance frequency selective surface (FSS) for enhancing compactness is proposed. Unit cell patch of dimension <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$0.05 \lambda_{0} \times 0.05 \lambda_{0}$</tex> at lowest resonant frequency 2.5 GHz is designed by loaded <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$U{-}$</tex> shaped and spiral-shaped open ended slots on the patch. The proposed FSS offers two stop-bands in the frequency band of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$1 \text{GHz}-7 \text{GHz}$</tex>. The miniaturization of 91 % is achieved. The two valuable frequency bands of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$0.76 \text{GHz}(1.94 \text{GHz}-2.7 \text{GHz})$</tex> and 1.30 GHz (<tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$4.62 \text{GHz}-5.92 \text{GHz}$</tex>) can be shield from electromagnetic (EM) waves. The fabricated surface can be used for WiFi (2.4 GHz), WiMAX (2.5/5.5 GHz) and WLAN (2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz) EM energy shielding applications.
