A Metamaterial Inspired Miniaturized Dual Band Filtenna Array for B5G Cellular Communication
A dual band filtering antenna with dimensions of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$15 ~\text{mm} \times 15 ~\text{mm}$</tex> is demonstrated in this paper which is capable of being used in Beyond 5G and 6G cellular applications. The proposed filtenna consists of Dual Open Square Loop based resonators with Defected Ground Structures loaded for realizing bandpass response with transmission null in the stop band. The proposed filter works in the region of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$5.3-7.3 \text{GHz}$</tex>. The metamaterial inspired antenna is designed to resonate at two frequencies of 5G NR n47 nd n104 bands - 5.8 and 6.8 GHz. The antenna and the filter are safely embedded to create a filtenna without matching network. An average gain of 4 dBi is achieved on both operating frequencies. An array-based gain improvement technique is also studied. <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$2 \times 1$</tex> wideband modified T junction based power divider is used as a feeding network. A filtenna array is designed and it is characteristics are simulated in CST Microwave Studio Suite and studied.
