A Review of Wideband Antenna Technologies for UAV Communication Systems
The integration of Wideband antennas in drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) has become recognized as a promising means of enhancing the applications of wireless communication, localization, and radar sensing. This review explores the latest developments in UWB antenna design, with a particular emphasis on performance, challenges, and suitability for UAV platforms. Key design considerations in terms of compactness, lightweight construction, and robustness against environmental factors are analyzed with the specific requirements of UAVs in mind. Major applications in accuracy navigation, detection of obstacles, and transfer of high speed data with the focus being on using this technology to enhance the UWB functionalities of UAV. Future trends and research issues like interference mitigation, energy efficiency, and multi-antenna systems are discussed. The view and review are for the possibility and advancement the UWB antennas could make in the design and development of the next generation UAV communication systems.
