Image-Based Weapon System Dynamic Firing Boundary Measurement
As a crucial component in the design of weapon system, the firing boundary is generally fixed with the installation of the weapon system. However, as the weapon system is increasingly deployed in crucial areas such as harbors and islands, the firing boundary needs to be dynamically adjusted rather than set to a fixed value, due to the unpredictable mooring of ships in the harbor. Given the complexity and time-consuming nature of measuring firing boundaries in real-time using traditional tools, we propose an image-based method for measuring dynamic firing boundaries. Our approach begins by establishing a dynamic firing boundary measurement model using the cross-ratio invariance from projective theory. This model determines the functional relationship, between the segment length in the image and the actual length in the real world, enabling accurate calculation of the dynamic firing boundary. To validate the effectiveness of our method, we tested it on three real-world images captured from various distances and angles. The results show that the average error in dynamic firing boundary measurements across these images is as low as 0.167% when compared to true values. This method can also be applied to other weapon systems installed at wharves.
