Designing a Flexible Patch Antenna for Vitals Monitoring: A Step Towards Smarter Healthcare Solutions
Designed for non-invasive heart rate monitoring in the 2.4 GHz ISM band, this flexible rectangular slotted patch antenna stands out for its capacity to incorporate precise geometry for improved multi-band performance. With its copper patch, aluminum ground plane, and PDMS substrate, the antenna provides the adaptability required for wearable device integration. With 90% efficiency, the design ensures minimal power loss, making it highly effective for biomedical applications. Rectangular slots enhance impedance matching and radiation efficiency, maximizing signal transmission for continuous physiological monitoring. Due to its mechanical properties and biocompatibility, PDMS is an ideal material for wearable health technology, offering both softness and durability. The smooth integration of the designed antenna in BANs allows real-time heart rate monitoring without compromising patient mobility. The rectangular slotted features further improve efficiency, leading to lower reflection losses and a clearer signal. Achieving a return loss of -50.31 dB, the design ensures significant impedance matching and efficient minimization of reflected signals, enabling optimal data acquisition. With its high efficiency, flexibility, and strong performance, this next-generation wearable health monitoring device demonstrates great potential for improved patient outcomes and higher satisfaction rates.
