Performance Analysis of LiDAR Target Detection System Under Weather and Noise Constraints

Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology has emerged as a critical tool in applications such as autonomous navigation, remote sensing, and environmental monitoring. However, its performance can be significantly affected by weather variability and receiver noise, which introduce challenges in maintaining accuracy and reliability. The link performance is assessed using the quality of received signal at the receiver and to compute fog attenuation over various visibility ranges. This analysis examines free-space networks under various atmospheric circumstances, including clear, hazy and fog to emphasise their practical limitations. Receiver noise and signal-to-noise ratio are calculated by comparing detected signals at various target ranges. This analysis gives useful insights for optimizing LiDAR systems to ensure their robust and dependable functioning in dynamic and difficult conditions.
