The Design of Multifunctional Pet Clothing

In recent years, the development of interdisciplinary fields such as smart wearables and the gradual expansion of the pet market have created new development opportunities for multifunctional pet clothing. The present paper designs and manufactures a multifunctional piece of clothing for use by pets. This multifunctional pet clothing employs a Beetle chip as a microcontroller, utilising the principle of photometric sensing to collect environmental light intensity data. This information is then utilised to modulate the brightness of the LED light strips embedded within the garment. In low-light conditions, the LED light strips on the exterior of the clothing emit specific light signals, providing a visual indication to pet owners and pedestrians of the animal's location. Furthermore, the multifunctional pet clothing incorporates various sustainable design elements. The outer surface of the clothing features reflective strips to meet the need for visibility under vehicle headlights at night; the limbs are designed with removable components to accommodate different seasonal temperatures and weather conditions, such as rain and snow; and the back includes a leash hook design for easy removal and replacement of different leashes. Through on-site testing with pets, the multifunctional pet clothing designed in this paper has been proven to automatically illuminate in dark environments, offering comprehensive functionality and versatility, thereby meeting the needs of most pet owners.
