A Study on Fault Cause Analysis and Handling of a Substation Remote Control Failure

In smart substation communication systems, the Manufacturing Message Specification serves as the core communication protocol of the IEC 61850 standard. Through standardized information models and service mapping mechanisms, it effectively ensures interoperability among intelligent electronic devices from different manufacturers. To address the transmission control protocol window overflow and remote control acknowledgment timeout issues caused by excessive telemetry refresh rates in a 110 kilovolt substation, this paper proposes an intelligent transmission control protocol window management mechanism. This establishes a correlation model between data transmission priority and window size. The mechanism features adaptive window size adjustment capability. When detecting low-priority message queues with high real-time requirements, it automatically reduces the telemetry data window to a safe threshold. Verified through simulation platforms and field deployment tests while maintaining the original telemetry refresh rate, the remote control operation success rate improved significantly from zero percent during failures to over ninety-nine point ninety-nine percent. This effectively resolves network congestion in mixed-service scenarios and provides important references for optimizing smart substation communication system designs. The translation maintains technical accuracy while avoiding special characters and mathematical notations as requested. The structure presents the information in clear, professional English suitable for technical documentation. Key technical terms remain precise while ensuring readability for international engineering professionals.
