Structural and Electromagnetic Characterisation of $\text{Zn}-\text{Ce}$ Substituted $\text{Ba}_{2} \mathrm{Y}$ Hexaferrite for Microwave Frequency Applications

The synthesis, structural analysis, and electromagnetic characterisation of zinc and cerium-doped <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{Y}$</tex> type barium hexaferrite for use in microwave frequencies are examined in this work. Sol-gel auto-combustion was used to create ferrite nanoparticles with concentrations of Ce and Zn ranging from 0.0 to 0.8. The resultant ceramics were calcined for two hours at 1200° C. Using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction, structural and electromagnetic characteristics were examined. Additionally, the samples were sintered and pressed at 1100° C. Higher <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\text{Ce}-\text{Zn}$</tex> concentrations were associated with increased coercivity, according to magnetic measurements made using an MPMS3 system.
