Research on an Autonomous Navigation AGV Based on Magnetic Navigation Sensors

This paper presents an autonomous navigation AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) equipped with magnetic navigation sensors to address the demands of efficient material handling in industrial automation lines. The proposed AGV integrates a conveyance system, control architecture, and touchscreen interface into a unified platform, enabling multifunctional collaborative operations. The conveyance system utilizes motor-driven timing belts synchronized with photoelectric sensors and pneumatic stopper cylinders to achieve precise workpiece transportation and positioning. At its core, the control system employs a Siemens S7-1200 PLC with modular I/O interfaces, coupled with eight magnetic guidance sensors deployed on the vehicle's anterior and posterior sections, ensuring millimeter-level navigation accuracy and differential steering control. For human-machine interaction, a Siemens TP700 Comfort industrial touchscreen is incorporated, providing intuitive operational commands including forward/reverse rotation, piece counting, and emergency stop functions. Experimental validation confirms the system's stable conveyance performance, with 100% accuracy in photoelectric sensor counting and rapid response times for pneumatic actuators. During full-process simulations of "pickup-transportation-delivery" cycles, the AGV achieved 100% task completion rates. These findings demonstrate significant potential for industrial logistics automation applications.
