Single Layered Linearly Polarized Antenna for 5G Base Station Applications

This paper presents the design and analysis of a linearly polarized antenna for 5 G base station applications covering <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$n 78$</tex> band (<tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$3.4-3.6 \text{GHz}$</tex>). The proposed design incorporates a primary patch and strategically added parasitic patches to enhance bandwidth and improve beamwidth, by using a single feed, single-layered design. The antenna operates at a center frequency of 3.5 GHz, achieving a bandwidth of 200 MHz to ensure compliance with the operational requirements of the 5 G spectrum. Performance metrics include a peak gain of 8.55 dB and a half-power beamwidth of 60.2°, ensuring optimal coverage and directivity for base station deployment.
