Deadbeat Speed Control for Photon-Driven PMDC Motor System

The photon-driven permanent magnet direct-current (PMDC) motor system brings better performance than electrical converter-driven PMDC motor systems, like voltage ripple, intrinsic electromagnetic interference (EMI), and sensitivity to external EMI. The PI control in photon-driven PMDC motor system brings limitations, such as slow response and difficult tuning parameters owing to nonlinear characteristics of photon-driven PMDC motor system. To overcome these limitations, this article proposes a deadbeat speed control for the photon-driven PMDC motor system, where the current of high-power laser diode is calculated based on the speed reference and deadbeat principle. Besides, the proposed control identifies viscous friction coefficients to increase accuracy of system model and employs the moving average filtering to smooth the sampled current and voltage for enhancing the control accuracy. The proposed deadbeat speed control for photon-driven PMDC motor system provides faster response and easier tuning parameters. The experimental prototype is built up to verify the feasibility and performance of the proposed control for photon-driven PMDC motor system.
