CEFALEIA EM SALVAS: REVISÃO DAS INTERVENÇÕES TERAPÊUTICAS
Cluster headache (CH) is responsible for one of the most intense pains known in neurology and is associated with a significant functional and emotional burden. This study conducted a literature review including five baseline articles published between 2019 and 2025, aiming to provide an overview of the main therapeutic interventions in CH. The results indicate that acute treatment relies on the use of 100% high-flow oxygen and parenteral triptans; transitional treatment involves corticosteroids and greater occipital nerve block; preventive treatment identifies verapamil as the first-line option, followed by lithium and topiramate; and, in refractory cases, additional strategies include neuromodulation through vagus nerve, occipital nerve, and sphenopalatine ganglion stimulation and anti-CGRP monoclonal antibodies. Despite advances, gaps remain regarding long-term efficacy and the standardization of protocols. It is concluded that management should be individualized, integrating pharmacological therapies and invasive interventions according to the patient’s clinical profile.
