Potential to Reduce Blood Sugar Levels in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus by “PASTI SEMBUH” Method in Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME): A Case Study
Background: Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) is a crucial component in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. However, the effectiveness of DSME education methods requires innovation to enhance patient engagement. This study aims to evaluate the impact of DSME using the "Pasti Sembuh" method on blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: This research employed a case study design based on evidence-based practice in nursing. The study subjects were 7 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients who met the inclusion criteria. Using a glucometer, patients' blood glucose levels were measured before and after receiving DSME with the "Pasti Sembuh" method. Results: The average blood glucose levels of the patients decreased from 169 mg/dL to 153 mg/dL after the DSME intervention. Conclusion: DSME with the "Pasti Sembuh" method shows potential for lowering blood glucose levels. Further research needs to be conducted with a larger sample to ensure the effectiveness of this method.
