Storytelling strategies for multimessenger astrophysics

Experimental gravitational and multi-messenger astrophysics have revolutionised the way we look at the cosmos and how we explore and study the universe. It's quite obvious that these new scientific developments have changed our horizon, and therefore require new ways to talk about these themes to the public. The rich development of the aforementioned experimental fields is recent in science’s timescales, and that means they are also new in the public’s mind. Therefore, we need to find new strategies to familiarize the public with these topics, going beyond what has been done until now. We will explore some of the challenges that this revolution in the world of astrophysics has brought for institutional science communication, some possible strategies to tackle them and how they have been applied in public events organized by the Communication Office of the European Gravitational Observatory (EGO), whose experience in the past five years is the starting point for this talk.
