Spontaneous asymptomatic superficial femoral artery pseudoaneurysm associated with stent fracture

Stent fractures of the peripheral arterial system are a documented phenomenon with the most common location being areas of high mobility such as behind the knee or groin. Concurrently, pseudoaneurysm formation of the superficial femoral artery is a rare complication most frequently linked to trauma, infection, or iatrogenic injury. We describe a unique case of a noninfectious, atraumatic, pseudoaneurysm of the superficial femoral artery after stenting. Previous reports have identified pseudoanerysmal degeneration from a stent fracture managed with open repair; however, management of these cases with endovascular repair is rare. This case additionally outlines the endovascular repair of a spontaneous pseudoaneurysm without symptomatology.
