Error Analysis of Business English Writing among MBA Students: A Study Based on a Private University

This study investigates common errors in business English writing among MBA students in an ESL context through a diagnostic analysis of job application letters. The findings reveal recurring issues in grammar, structure, tone, and genre conventions, which compromise clarity and professionalism in formal communication.Nine categories of errors were identified, ranging from article misuse and sentence fragmentation to improper salutations and spelling mistakes. These errors highlight gaps in writing instruction that often fails to align with workplace communication needs. The paper argues for a shift toward contextualized, genre-based, and process-oriented pedagogy in business writing education.Such an approach can better prepare management students for real-world communication demands and enhance their professional readiness and employability.
