Monitoring and Evaluating Global Volunteer Programs
This article analyzes the role of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) in sustaining effective global volunteer programs. It examines goal-setting practices using SMART criteria, the identification of key performance indicators (KPIs), and systematic methods of data collection and analysis. Frameworks such as logic models, theory of change, balanced scorecard, and outcome mapping are presented as tools for aligning volunteer programs with organizational goals and measuring long-term impact. Real-world examples illustrate how non-profits apply surveys, tracking platforms, and structured reporting to strengthen accountability and adaptability. The article concludes that M&E is not only a compliance mechanism but also a driver of innovation, volunteer satisfaction, and program sustainability.
