Integrated Production Optimization Solution (IPOS) for Libya Gas Lift Wells
Today, advancements in data acquisition, transmission, and analysis technologies have made it highly beneficial to install additional monitoring devices on each well. These devices offer long-term advantages by helping to prevent shutdowns, reduce accidents, and avoid unnecessary costs. Real-time data collection on production rates, pressures, temperatures, fluid compositions, and other key parameters allows for early identification of performance deviations and potential production issues, enabling more effective production optimization. This paper presents the successful implementation of an Integrated Production Optimization Solution (IPOS) for gas-lifted wells in a mature oil field in Libya. The deployment of the system resulted in substantial improvements in field performance, including a 36–45% increase in oil production across all wells and a reduction of up to 40% in gas injection requirements. Operational reliability was significantly enhanced, with average downtime decreasing by approximately 95%, and several wells reporting zero hours of downtime following system deployment. These outcomes highlight the effectiveness of IPOS in optimizing gas lift operations, reducing lifting costs, and enabling real-time, data-driven decision-making. The results further demonstrate the potential of such digital solutions to modernize production operations and serve as a replicable model for the broader application of smart oilfield technologies across other mature fields in Libya and similar environments.
