Zastosowanie rzeczywistości wirtualnej w neuropsychologicznej diagnozie zaburzeń pamięci w wieku podeszłym

In the face of dynamic demographic changes and the increasing number of seniors, neuropsychological diagnostics must adapt its methods to the current cognitive challenges of older adults. The introduction of modern tools appears promising. Virtual reality (VR) offers new possibilities for assessing memory functions, allowing examinations to be conducted in conditions that more closely resemble real-life scenarios. The aim of this article is to analyze current research on the application of VR in the neuropsychological diagnosis of memory disorders in older adults, with an emphasis on its potential in differential diagnosis and the identification of cognitive deficits at the early stages of neurodegenerative diseases. The use of virtual reality may contribute to a deeper understanding of memory deficits associated with ageing. Virtual methods reflect both subjective and objective memory problems. Research highlights the particular role of active navigation. Moreover, studies have established that VR-based tasks appear promising for differential diagnosis. Despite these encouraging findings, further research is necessary to standardize these methods and implement them effectively in clinical diagnostics.
