Psychospołeczne aspekty przystosowania do starości. Przegląd, systematyzacja i analiza porównawcza wybranych ujęć
Adjustment to ageing is a topic frequently addressed in research on the psychology of ageing; although different concepts – often using varying terminology and placing diverse emphasis on the determinants, mechanisms, or outcomes of this process – are used to describe it. This article presents a proposal to divide theories of ageing adjustment into groups of classical theories of ageing; developmental concepts of old age in the life cycle; as well as typological, processual, and criterial approaches. Differences and similarities between selected concepts are also discussed, along with an overview of the strengths and weaknesses of each theoretical group. Finally, the article outlines the implications of the current status of the described construct for research, highlighting the benefits of utilizing the proposed systematization in designing scientific studies and interpreting their results.
