Reimagining Assessment: Technology Implementation Strategies for Institutional Transformation

In this paper we examines the transition from traditional to technology-driven assessment processes in higher education, focusing on implementation strategies, challenges, and opportunities.Through analysis of current literature and practices, the study explores key factors including faculty engagement, system integration, resource allocation, and regulatory compliance.Findings indicate that successful transitions require careful attention to both technical and human factors, with particular emphasis on stakeholder buy-in and sustainable support structures. The research highlights how accreditation requirements and technological capabilities intersect to shape assessment practices, while also identifying emerging trends such as AIassisted grading and adaptive technologies. We present a four-stage implementation framework derived from successful case studies that addresses the complex interplay between technology capabilities, institutional culture, resource constraints, and regulatory requirements. This work contributes to the growing body of knowledge on educational assessment by providing insights into effective implementation strategies and considerations for institutions navigating the shift toward technology-enhanced assessment practices. The framework's application across diverse institutional contexts demonstrates its adaptability, with particular emphasis on how Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and minorityserving institutions (MSIs) can leverage technologydriven assessment to enhance student success despite resource limitations.Recommendations for future research and practical implications are discussed.
