Jesień życia w warunkach opieki instytucjonalnej – charakterystyka oddziaływań psychologicznych świadczonych seniorom w domach pomocy społecznej

Demographic data indicate that in recent years, the number of elderly people in the Polish population has been systematically increasing. The process of population aging is associated with a significant increase in demand for health and care services. A social welfare home is a facility providing interdisciplinary support to people unable to fulfill their basic needs independently. Access to psychiatric and psychological care should be an integral element of support provided in facilities, considering that residents of social welfare homes - constituting a specific subgroup of elderly people - are particularly vulnerable to experiencing mental difficulties. The aim of the article is an attempt to analyze the psychosocial functioning of residents of social welfare homes in order to advance psychological interventions addressed to this population.
