Celebrating 25 Years of the Indian Journal of Continuing Nursing Education – A Journey of Purpose and Progress
As we mark the 25th year of the Indian Journal of Continuing Nursing Education (IJCNE), we pause to celebrate a remarkable journey woven with passion, perseverance and purpose – a movement that reflected the growth and evolution of nursing and the health care in India. What began as a modest initiative in 2000 with the vision to provide a space where nurses could learn, update, reflect and publish has today grown into a respected platform that not only informs practice but also inspires inquiry, critical thinking and professional growth. For two and a half decades, IJCNE has stood committed to its foundational purpose: to provide accessible, relevant and evidence-based content that strengthens the continuum of nursing education across India and beyond. NURTURING KNOWLEDGE AND SHAPING PRACTICE Nursing, by its very nature, is a dynamic profession that continuously evolves to meet the changing needs of society. Through biannual issues, the journal has consistently offered peer-reviewed articles, clinical updates, research series, concept exploration and innovations in pedagogy – all aimed at empowering nurses at various levels of practice. It has provided a space where academic rigor meets practical wisdom. From foundational concepts in community and clinical nursing to cutting-edge topics such as digital health, innovative teaching methods and ethical decision-making, the journal has kept pace with the shifts in changing paradigms in nursing education, clinical practice and the growing strength of nursing research in India and globally. It has amplified indigenous research, fostered interprofessional dialogue and encouraged young nurse scholars to publish, reflect and grow. A TRIBUTE TO COLLABORATION This silver jubilee milestone is not just a reflection of time passed – but of people, partnerships and perseverance. We express our deepest gratitude to the editorial board members – past and present – whose tireless commitment to quality and integrity has upheld the journal’s standard. We thank the many contributors – authors, peer reviewers and readers – who believed in the mission of IJCNE and enriched its pages with insight, courage and clarity. We acknowledge the unwavering support of our institution, Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, whose leadership and infrastructure made the journal possible and sustainable. As an institution rooted in service, education and research, CMC has consistently championed the value of continuing education for nurses. LOOKING AHEAD As we move forward into the next chapter, our vision is to further broaden the journal’s reach engaging with digital platforms, sustaining open access, encouraging interdisciplinary scholarship and reflecting on current health priorities such as climate change, mental health, nursing workforce challenges and patient safety. As a part of WHO Collaborating Centre, we aim to support and advance policy priorities set forth for the nursing workforce as well as healthcare outcomes at the individual and public levels. We remain steadfast in our commitment to being a learning companion for every nurse, whether in rural primary health centres or tertiary care institutions, whether a novice or an expert. IN GRATITUDE AND HOPE Twenty-five years is not just a milestone – it is a testimony to relevance, resilience and responsibility. The IJCNE remains a witness to the enduring spirit of nursing in India and a torchbearer for informed, compassionate and competent care. However, no matter how much we grow, we remain grounded in the same belief: that learning never stops, and that every nurse deserves the opportunity to grow through knowledge. To all who have been part of this journey, thank you. You have made these 25 years not just possible, but deeply meaningful. Personally, it has been an amazing academic journey for me. As I complete my responsibility as the Editor-in-Chief, with a heart full of gratitude, and eyes set on the horizon, I invite you to journey with IJCNE into the next decade – learning, sharing and growing together and be a part of the 25 years of silver jubilee initiatives of the Journal.
