Design and Implementation of a Web based Cultural Heritage Archive Management System

Cultural heritage is crucial in the preservation of the identity, memory, and legacy of civilizations. But traditional archives have severe drawbacks like fragmentation, non-interoperability, limited access, and physical fragility, rendering long-term preservation and public access challenging. These traditional approaches tend to be based on fixed digital archives or disconnected documentation activities with no cohesive platform or standardized metadata, resulting in inefficiency in managing the heritage. To address these issues, this work introduces the concept, design, and development of a smart, web-enabled Cultural Heritage Archive Management System for digital preservation, indexing, and sharing of tangible and intangible cultural heritage items. The system incorporates a centralized digital repository structure with cloud-supported backend services, metadata schemes such as Dublin Core to support interoperability, and multimedia content storage such as images, documents, audio, and video. It has a responsive user interface, real-time update and search functionalities, and an effective role-based access control mechanism for curators, contributors, and the public at large. The suggested framework, unlike current systems, provides uniform cataloging, secure storage, and improved accessibility within an interactive and intuitive setting. Usability testing showed significantly improved archival efficiency and user satisfaction. Large-scale experiments were performed with baseline and conventional systems, and the model attained an Accuracy of 98.5%, Precision of 98.3%, Recall of 98.3%, and an F1-score of 98.5%, which surpasses the performance of traditional archive solutions. The outcome confirms the system's efficiency in offering secure, sustainable, and efficient digital heritage management.
