SurfPulse: An Integrated YOLOv8-Based System for Real-Time Pothole Detection, Driver Alerting, and Road Condition Mapping

Efficient detection of potholes is fundamental to enhancing road safety, reducing vehicle damage, and optimizing maintenance. This work presents a smart system that takes pothole detection automatically from images through processing of real-time data. Images of the roads are taken by the system, and potholes are detected and linked to location information to enable proper mapping. The details are saved within a cloud storage platform, offering immediate access. A mobile app notifies drivers of road hazards and offers navigation support, while an admin interface facilitates effective management of reported potholes. Through automated detection, real-time updates, and cloud-based access, this solution provides a cost-efficient and scalable solution for enhancing road infrastructure.
