Advanced Deep Learning Techniques for Predicting and Mitigating Deforestation

The loss of forests poses a significant threat to biodiversity and sustainable land use. This study employs artificial neural networks (ANN) in conjunction with satellite data to analyze the spatial distribution of deforestation. Various factors influencing environmental conditions were integrated, including economic variables, proximity to habitats and infrastructure, forest fragmentation, elevation, slope, and soil composition. The ANN model was developed due to its ability to capture nonlinear relationships and make complex predictions about deforestation trends. Advanced image registration techniques, along with error correction protocols, enabled the timely generation of maps illustrating temporal changes in forest cover. These were incorporated into a multi-layered algorithm designed to predict areas most at risk of deforestation during the study period. The application of ANN models, capable of making nonlinear predictions, was pivotal in forecasting deforestation patterns. Integrating AI-driven methodologies with conventional research tools is becoming increasingly essential in safeguarding critical ecosystems worldwide. The results of this study underscore the effectiveness of neural network-based approaches in predicting future deforestation driven by human activities in forested regions.
