Stator Inter Turn Short Circuit Fault and Voltage Unbalances of Three Phase Induction Motor
Induction motors can function effectively under balanced voltage conditions, offering low maintenance and operating costs while being an energy-efficient electromechanical drive. Induction motors are utilized across all industrial processes due to the absence of viable alternatives. Throughout their operation, induction motors experience various stresses that can lead to potential failures. Consequently, there is a loss of time and revenue. The supply system experiences ongoing fluctuations due to minor imbalances in the distribution system. If, for any reason, the voltage imbalance surpasses 3 %, it can be detrimental to induction machines. It is crucial to assess the performance of the drive under the supply of unbalanced scenarios and in the event of an inter-turn stator short circuit fault. This paper presents a derived model of the induction motor for both symmetrical and asymmetrical conditions, aimed at diagnosing performance issues under the supply of unbalanced voltages and short circuit stator inter turn fault.
