Design and Simulation of an Elliptical Cylinderbased Patch Antenna for Multiband Wireless Communication

Wireless communication relies on antennas for the exchange of information. With the global rollout of 5 G technology, the demand for multiband antennas capable of covering a wide range of frequency bands has increased, prompting researchers to develop various multiband patch antenna designs. In this work presents an elliptical cylinderbased patch antenna which used FR4 substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.3 for multiband wireless communication. This antenna has four operating frequencies <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$5.22 \text{GHz}, 7.22 \text{GHz}$</tex>, 10.8 GHz and 12.63 GHz, which allows the antenna to function in multiple bands and broadens its use case to different sectors in the communication domain. This function of the antenna is possible due to the introduction of elliptical cylinder surface that stands at the top of the patch. The antenna depicts amazing results in far field and in return loss. The highest directive gains and return loss is observed <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{8. 5 2} \mathbf{~ d B i}$</tex> and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{- 3 3. 5 2} \mathbf{~ d B}$</tex> at <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{1 2. 6 3 G H z}$</tex> respectively.
