IoT Driven Wireless Sensor Network Routing Optimization using Improved Firefly Algorithm and Block Chain Technology

The Internet of Things (IoT)-driven Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) got significant attention in monitoring geological environments such as surveillance, military, and environmental operations. Nevertheless, efficient routing and secure data transmission are critical. This paper proposes an advanced Firefly Optimization Algorithm (FOA) for routing and Block Chain (BC) technology for ensuring security in IoT-based WSNs. FOA is optimized to establish energy-efficient routing paths within the WSN and handles the issues of energy consumption and enhances the network’s lifecycle. Additionally, to ensure secure data transmission, BC technology is incorporated between the nodes that assures data quality and prevents attacks from unauthorized access and manipulations. Simulation results show significant improvements in energy efficiency, data security, and network lifetime when compared to traditional methods. This integrated approach presents a promising framework for the development of future IoT-based WSNs, enabling their reliable and secure deployment in diverse real-world applications. Overall, this work offers a scalable and secure routing solution for next-generation IoT-driven WSNs.
