IRS-Aided Joint UL/DL Terahertz Communications: Pathloss Modeling and Resource Allocation
Resource allocation plays a critical role in overcoming the challenges of intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-assisted full-duplex (FD) terahertz (THz) communication systems, such as severe path loss, frequency-dependent molecular absorption, and self-interference. The unique properties of the THz band, including ultra-wide bandwidth and frequency-sensitive propagation, necessitate novel and efficient spectrum allocation strategies. In this paper, we optimize the resource allocation, including IRS beamforming, spectrum, and power, to maximize the system weighted minimum rate. To solve the formulated optimization problem, an efficient penalty-based algorithm is proposed. Simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed scheme over conventional schemes.
