Cylindrical Scattered Field Transformation Applicable for Differences in the Radar Ranges of Transmitter and Receiver—Near-Field Prediction

This letter proposes a cylindrical scattered field transformation for near-field (NF) predictions. The transformation can be applied when measurement distances from the origin of the coordinates in the radial direction to a transmitter (TX) and a receiver (RX) are different. It can be applied in quasi-monostatic measurements which are bistatic measurements where the bistatic angle is so small that it can be regarded as monostatic. The algorithm has already been reported in a single-cut transformation for the NF and FF predictions and the cylindrical transformation for the FF predictions. However, the algorithm of the cylindrical transformation for the NF predictions has not previously been reported. This letter is the first to propose the NF predictions. The cylindrical transformation for the NF predictions involves different procedures from the FF predictions. The proposed method is numerically and experimentally verified.
