1 × 2 Mode Splitter Based on Asymmetric Multimode Interference Coupler
To enhance the flexibility of mode division multiplexing systems, we have proposed and successfully demonstrated a 1 × 2 mode splitter based on asymmetric multimode interference coupler formed by polymer waveguide platform. The optimized mode splitter can effectively separate the E11 and E21 modes without changing the mode order. The experimental results show that the proposed device exhibits low insertion loss (<11.62 dB) and crosstalk (<−10.7 dB) over a broad bandwidth (1530 nm-1625 nm). The proposed mode splitter has potential applications in improving the integration and communication capability of mode division multiplexing systems.
