“ERA UMA VEZ UMA CRIANÇA QUE NÃO SABIA LER”, A HISTÓRIA DE (DES) ROTULAGEM NA CLÍNICA: UM RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA

The medicalization of school difficulties has become a recurring phenomenon in Brazilian public schools, often attributing individual disabilities to children and reinforcing labeling processes. Therefore, the objective of this study was to report on the experience of a clinical internship and to reflect on the medicalization of school complaints. This is a qualitative and descriptive experience report of experiences during a supervised internship, with an emphasis on School Psychology, in the context of a complaint related to learning difficulties. The experience involved consultations with an elementary school child, during which observations and dialogues with the family and the teaching staff were conducted, enabling reflections on the limits and possibilities of psychological intervention in the face of school complaints. It was found that, more than a diagnosis of a learning disorder, there was a need for a pedagogical intervention focused on literacy, as well as the active participation of the family. It is concluded that the analysis may contribute to the debate about medicalization and labeling in the schooling process, highlighting the critical-reflective role of the psychologist in the educational field.
