The Concept of Political Culture in Polish Empirical Research
The text concerns empirical research on political culture in Poland. A synthetic outline of the most important findings concerning the definitions of political culture is followed by a presentation of the three main directions of empirical research on political culture in Poland, with a focus on the political culture of selected social categories/ groups (for example young people and internet users) and society as a whole, as well as the local dimension of political culture. The conclusions point out some of the weaknesses of empirical research on political culture, particularly those related to the study of the behavioural component, as well as attitudes and opinions. The text also addresses the proposal to operationalise the concept of political culture with a simultaneous exclusion of the behavioural component.
