DIVERSIFICATION AS A DIRECTION FOR ENSURING STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT OF AN ENTERPRISE IN THE CONDITIONS OF SYSTEM CRISIS AND ACCELERATED DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

The article explores the theoretical foundations of diversification as a key direction for ensuring the strategic development of an enterprise in the context of system crises and accelerated digital transformation. Various scientific approaches to interpreting the essence of the economic category "diversification" are analyzed and systematized. Based on the sources studied, the author's vision of the role of diversification as a tool for ensuring strategic stability is proposed. It is emphasized that it is the digitalization of economic processes that carries new risks and threats that business entities must take into account when forming the processes of introducing innovations into undeveloped areas of activity and entering new product markets. It is noted that diversification is an innovative process of enterprise development through penetration into new industries, new product markets, and redistribution of resources, contributing to an increase in revenue and risk reduction. The main types of diversification of the enterprise's activities are identified and characterized, in particular vertical, horizontal, conglomerate, cross-sectional and mixed. It is noted that there is no unified, correct choice of diversification strategy, since each choice depends on the strategy, goals, motives and incentives for the development of the enterprise. The key strategic goals of diversification as a tool for neutralizing the financial risks of the enterprise are outlined, which are as follows: reducing overall risk, increasing financial stability, ensuring the stability of cash flows, protection against crisis phenomena, optimal redistribution of resources, increasing competitiveness, creating new sources of profit generation. It is proven that in modern business conditions, diversification provides the enterprise with additional advantages for maneuvering resources, reducing dependence on one area of activity and forming long-term competitive advantages.
