NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF HEAT TRANSFER IN A PARTIALLY OPEN-ENDED ENCLOSURE CONTAINING HEATED BODY THROUGH THE LATTICE BOLTZMANN METHOD
In this study, natural convection heat transfer is analyzed for a partially open-ended enclosure containing heated body. The two-dimensional analysis is performed using a custom code based on the thermal lattice Boltzmann method and a double function distribution approach. Two population lattices are used with the same configuration (D2Q9-D2Q9), the first for the dynamic field and the second for the thermal field.A parametric study is conducted to analyze the flow and heat transfer characteristics by varying the Rayleigh number in the range of 10 3 Ra 10 5 , the heated body height ranging from 0% h 80% compared to H, and the upper opening width from 20% L 100%.The results indicated that the intensity of the phenomenon changes as the width l and the height h of the heated body increase.Consequently, the intensity of the phenomenon remains relatively stable with the variation of the opening L. The novelty lies in using the thermal Lattice Boltzmann method to study natural convection in a partially open cavity with a heated body of variable size, revealing an optimal heat transfer at a 20% heigh ratio and consistent flow temperature symmetry.
