On the issue of the «terminological vacuum» of legislation regulating relations in the virtual space

At the end of 2024, the results of the implementation of key national projects were summed up, and the Passport of the national project "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State" was approved, which should be implemented in the period from 2025 to 2030. In this regard, the issue of both the unification and uniformity of interpretations in terms of such basic terms as "information", "information and communication infrastructure", "Internet", "telematic communication services", "communication services for data transmission", etc., and in terms of the relationship between legal, information, and virtual space has become even more relevant. The article considers the issues of the terms used in the legislation regulating relations in the virtual space. For these purposes, the author proposes to define virtual space as a space for data exchange between computing devices - computers, servers, routers, and other equipment or software. The author, analyzing the relationship between legal, information, and virtual space using Euler circles, concludes that the term "legal space" will be a large circle, which includes "information space", and the term "virtual space" is completely included in the volume of "information space". According to the author, the term "virtual space" used in science is identical to the terms "cyberspace" and "cybernetic space" since all these terms denote a connection with electronic communications networks and virtual reality, and are also directly related to another term - "Internet".
