A Visualization-Based Analysis of the Current Status and Development of the MaxEnt Model in Ecological Suitability Research

Addressing biodiversity loss from climate change and human activities is an urgent global task. Ecological suitability analysis and spatiotemporal distribution pattern prediction are key solutions, with the MaxEnt model being a focal point in biodiversity conservation research. This study uses Citespace to visualize and analyze nearly 20 years of related literature from China National Knowledge Infrastructure. It aims to explore the current state and development trend of ecological suitability and spatiotemporal distribution pattern prediction based on the MaxEnt model. Results show that: (1) the number of publications in this field is steadily increasing, indicating widespread scientific attention; (2) the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences takes the lead in research and has formed a collaborative network with many institutions; (3) keywords like environmental factors, suitability, and climate factors are current research hotspots. This study reveals the research status and development trend of the MaxEnt model in predicting species suitability and spatial distribution, offering significant insights for addressing climate change and human activities in biodiversity conservation.
