Analysis of research hotspots and trends in biotechnology and education based on CiteSpace: Taking WOS data as an example
Since the 21st century, biotechnologies such as CRISPR-CAS9 gene editing technology have developed rapidly, constantly refreshing human understanding of life sciences. At the same time, biology teaching currently mostly follows classical theoretical teaching, and experimental teaching and teaching content are seriously disconnected from high technology, or the integration with high technology is far-fetched, and a comprehensive integration of education covering all biotechnologies has not yet been formed. Biotechnology and modern education still need to be improved. Therefore, CiteSpace software is used to visualize and analyze the literature related to biotechnology and education in the past ten years (2016-2025), to explore the development direction of its deep integration, to promote scientific research through teaching, and finally explore, and establish a modular biotechnology curriculum system covering different teaching ages. Then it builds a forward-looking biotechnology education ecosystem to provide a system for cultivating new biotechnology talents for the country. Conclusion are the research hotspots of biotechnology and education are concentrated on regulatory T-cells and gene editing. The COVID-19 pandemic has sparked more research on basic principles and social science issues (2016-2025). However, studies in other fields still lack integration with education. This can lead to two problems: knowledge becomes one-sided, and scientific research gets disconnected from the public.
