Study on resource disposal of the integrated external drainage of the converter station with zero-discharge
ABSTRACT Current environmental risk management strategies for integrated external drainage systems in converter stations demonstrate insufficient effectiveness and poor operational adaptability. Based on the classified investigation of the process and operation of the external cooling system in the converter station, the characteristics of the integrated external drainage quality and quantity of the converter station are studied. Then, a zero-discharge route based on electric-membrane concentration (microfiltration and reverse osmosis) and electric-energy crystallization (mechanical vapor recompression evaporation) for integrated external drainage is proposed. Moreover, a treatment equipment was developed and applied in a China's typical north converter station. The treatment capacity of the equipment has reached 2 m3/h as well as the recovery rate of the product water is over 90%, the quality of the product water meets the standard of ‘The use of urban recycling water-Water quality standard for industrial uses’ (GB/T 19923-2005) and ‘Guidelines for Water Reuse’ (US EPA 600-R-12-618).
