Saúde mental e processos de trabalho em uma unidade de internação psiquiátrica: uma pesquisa-intervenção com trabalhadores

INTRODUCTION: The National Humanization Policy (PNH) and the Training Program in Workers’ Health (PFST) guide the promotion of healthier work environments and the co-responsibility of workers in building care practices. These guidelines emphasize the collective construction of work modalities that bring meaning and satisfaction to those who perform them, thus also contributing to the production of health among the workers themselves. OBJECTIVE: To promote a space for sharing and producing experiences among healthcare workers in a psychiatric inpatient unit, fostering their involvement in work processes and overcoming naturalized patterns, opening pathways for more inventive and desirable ways of working. METHOD: An intervention-research was conducted with the care team of the Adult Psychiatric Inpatient Unit of a general hospital in Porto Alegre. Six group meetings for collective work analysis were offered, using the cartographic method for data production and analysis. RESULTS: Nineteen professionals from various fields participated, enabling the group to function as a device for collectively exploring work experiences and challenges. The analysis was organized into three thematic axes: “The Signifier ‘Care’”; “‘Each in Their Own Box’”; and “Multi-processes: Expanding the Nursing-Medicine Dynamic.” CONCLUSION: The study highlights the power of interdisciplinary encounters, which allowed professionals to engage, reflect, and co-create new approaches within the unit, ultimately fostering mental health.
