“AWARENESS AND PERCEPTIONS OF FACELESS ASSESSMENT: AN EVIDENCE FROM HOSAPETE CITY”

The Faceless Assessment Scheme, launched in 2020 under the "Transparent Taxation -Honouring the Honest" initiative, represents a significant step towards creating a transparent, impartial, and technology-driven tax system in India. This study focuses on taxpayers in Hosapete city, examining their awareness, perceptions, and challenges regarding the scheme. The survey of 50 respondents revealed that 84% were aware of the initiative and 94% recognized its connection to Digital India. Many participants viewed it as transparent, time-saving, and less biased compared to traditional assessments. However, 58% faced difficulties with the e-filing portal, and nearly half required assistance from consultants, highlighting usability issues. While younger, educated taxpayers adapted more easily, older and less digitally skilled individuals struggled due to technical barriers and limited guidance. The findings underscore the need for stronger awareness campaigns, regional-language support, and improved digital infrastructure to make the faceless system inclusive, user-friendly, and fully effective.
